Learn More About Me

I have been proudly serving the Kingsport, Johnson City, Elizabethton, and Bristol TN area as a Brass Specialist since 2004. My private lesson studio consists of Trumpets, Horns, Trombones, Euphoniums/Baritones, and Tubas. I currently have over 40 private lesson students that meet with me weekly. My studio has a very high success rate with the number of students that place near the top in their school band programs, and at area festivals and clinics, including All-State, and several have also placed high in the local Youth Symphony in Kingsport. Many students interested in becoming music majors or minors have received very nice scholarships for college.

I also assist area high school and middle school programs during the school year, where I work one-on-one with students, run sectionals, brass ensembles, or even assist the band directors with class. During the summer, along with continuing my student lessons, I also assist with several middle school and high school summer band camps.

I received my Music Performance Degree - Euphonium from East Tennessee State University and my M.Ed. from Milligan College where I received my K-12 Instrumental Teaching Licensure.

I served as Principal (Solo) Euphonium of the Brass Band of Appalachia since it's inception in 2016. I have played in the brass quintet Selah Brass since 2008, playing euphonium, trombone, and tuba, and was a proud member of the Johnson City Community Concert Band (JCCCB) where I have held the Principle Chair since 2005 for Euphonium, up until 2020 when my lesson schedule grew to a size that I couldn't do both. I hope to join back in the future. These groups perform at several area festivals, dedications, and events, while also providing the local communities with their own concerts throughout the year. Angelia, my wife, holds the JCCCB Principle Flute Chair and is a member of the Westwind Trio (Flute, Clarinet, and Cello). Angelia and I are asked regularly to play at different venues throughout the year including: Relay for Life, area churches during holidays and special events, and other events where we may be asked to play duets or serve as guest artists.

I spend most of my free time playing and making up games with my son, spending quality time with my wife and horse playing with my dogs. And I love everything “turtle”.
